As an avid lover of Mexican food, hitting Vida Cantina in the Epicenter was a no brainer. Allured by the promise of homemade guacamole, fish tacos, and a giant margarita, Vida Cantina was a safe haven in the bustle of Uptown.
If you're trying to beat the Monday blues like I was, I suggest heading to Vida Cantina and checking out their lunch special. Offering a variety of "pick 2" options, you can mix and match for days without getting sick of options. After a margarita and snacking on chips, and gabbing with a few good friends, my Monday blues were cured.
If you're looking for a place to brunch, Vida also offers a special selection on Saturdays and Sundays. Unique menu items such as Smoked Salmon Tacos and Mexican Hot Chocolate make this restaurant both group and family friendly.
Carolina Nightlife will be hosting our Annual Sombrero Bar Crawl starting at Vida on Saturday, May 3rd. Purchase your tickets here:
Tomorrow is such a big day for the city of Charlotte as we get to welcome our beloved Knight's to play right here in Uptown. There is a great view from every seat in the stadium and season tickets are going fast! For those of you who are coming Uptown tomorrow for the game there are some great ways to have fun before it's "one, two, three strikes your out at the old ball game!"
Family - Starting at noon there will be a large celebration at the Romare Bearden Park with the introduction of our Charlotte Knights Team, followed by live music, activities and entertainment all afternoon. Food and Beverage will be available for purchase from some favorite local food trucks.
Happy Hour - Getting off of work and need a quick drink before the game at 7? Vida Mexican Kitchen is offering $3 Tecate, $4 Tequila Shooters, and $5 Margaritas. Not a bad way to start the game! Or head on over to Mortimer's for $3 Bud light bottles and $6 Vodka Redbulls. Can't go wrong with that.
After the game - The party is still going on and it's Friday night! Head on over to Prohibition for some $3 Bud Lights or $5 Absolut flavors, or check out The Tin Roof for some fantastic live music with an outdoor feel.
Ri Ra's mission statement states that "Ri Ra" means a place or state where exhuberance and revelry prevail: where music and merriment compete and conversation flows smooth".
Upon entering this well known Irish Pub in the First Ward of Uptown, you are faced with the decision to travel up the stairs to the bar and rooftop patio, or head straight to the first bar on ground floor.
If you're headed for lunch or an early afternoon beverage, we suggest you head to the bar on ground floor. The staff is friendly, the food is good, and the beverage specials you can't beat. They're known for their traditional Irish options, such as their shepard's pie (which we highly suggest). The first bar at ground floor is your traditional Irish pub setting; eat, drink, and be merry. Chat with a stranger, and you've made a new best friend for life.
For the night owl, the upper level is always filled with excitement. Induldge in those Happy Hour specials and sit back on the outdoor patio basking in the Carolina sun, or indulge in one of the many live music opportunities. Why not start the night off right with a Baby Guinness or Irish Car Bomb in a traditional Irish Pub?
For those of you who are hesitant to hit the Uptown/Epicenter "scene", I say head to Ri Ra's. Not only do you have two nightlife options set in one bar (as well as a rooftop), but you're far enough away for a more relaxed crowd setting. Also, they serve "Untradtional Potato Cakes" with duck confit and whiskey bacon jam...enough said.
Don't let Uptown parking scare you, as street parking and parking decks are within walking distance.
Monday's can be hard, especially when its pouring down with rain and miserable outside. The Sunday night dread that you must wake up early and become a productive member of society once again hits you hard and all you do is plan your next weekend activity. Well it's time to stop dreading Monday and time to continue the weekend fun with your friends at Strike City in the EpiCenter with All You Can Bowl Monday!
Strike City offers every Monday from 11am to 2am on a first come first serve basis, all you can bowl for $15 per person which also includes your rental shoes. The earlier you get there (or the later you get there) the more option for lanes will be available. This is a great night out with some friends, family or coworkers to get those Monday blues out of your system. Do keep in mind this event is 18+.
Even if you're not into bowling but your friends are, Strike City has a plethora of televisions playing the Monday night games and if that still doesn't strike your fancy they have on special $4 Blue Moon pints and car bombs, $5 fireball shots and $5 Smirnoff flavors (for those who are over 21).
By Wednesday morning, my mindset is looking straight onward to the weekend. Sure, you go out for a drink or two on Wednesday or Thursday, but responsbilities and the knowledge that you have to be up early in the morning truly prevents you from being able to relax and have that cocktail. By the time 5pm on Friday hits, all I want to do is enjoy a cocktail with my girls and unwind from the week prior.
As a recent newbie to Charlotte, I have been hearing about the "ultimate chick spot" aka Crave Dessert Bar for months. After the week I had, I decided to check it out on a Thursday night with a gal pal since I couldn't resist the lure of Crave one more day. I wasn't disappointed.
From chocolate confectionary treats, peanut butter pies, savory apps, and their large array of mixed martinis, Crave Dessert Bar is what I needed. It's like the Willy Wonka Factory for adults, minus the option of turning into a Violet Blueberry.
Candied Bacon Ice Cream Cookies? A Girl Scout's inspired thin mint martini?Count me in.
The options of comfy couches, a lively bar, sugary treats, are versatile enough to make the whiniest in your group happy. The crowd was a mix of groups, couples on a date, and girls. In other words, if you're looking to pick someone up, you've got the wrong bar. However, it's a great place to unwind, celebrate happy hour, and have a cocktail before handling the craze of Uptown.
If you're looking for somewhere to meet the girls, show your friends somewhere unique, or give in to your sugar cravings, Crave is your place.
Its back. CIAA in Charlotte! The tournament and the parties! Our partners over at Charlotte Observer have a great list of events for people to check out:
